Dear On-Site Supervisor,

Students that are enrolled in ECED 2021, Infant, Toddler, and Child Development Lab, are required to complete 15 hours of
observations as a requirement for this course. This could be a childcare center, family day care home, group home, preschool
program, or elementary classroom in a public, private, or school setting.

Some students have chosen their own observation sites while others will observe in planned visits arranged by me. The
requirements of this field experience are that they observe the children and their school settings. The students should not direct
any activities or be left alone with the children at any time. The students will also be required to write an observational report on
the visit.

The students have been informed and have signed an agreement that confidentiality be maintained at all times.

Each student will have different needs and capabilities according to their schedule, however, they should try to accommodate
the needs of your classroom. Part of their assignment is filling out a field experience log at each visit and having it signed each
time by the cooperating teacher verifying their attendance.

I sincerely thank you for participating in this endeavor. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me
(Dr. Catherine Shafer at the Department of Natural and Behavioral Sciences) or my supervisor, Dr. Shari Lillestolen, at Pellissippi
State Technical Community College at 539-7229.

So that I will know the student has made arrangements with your program, please take a moment to fill out this information, and
make a copy, if you would like, to keep for your records as well.

Thank you for your cooperation!
